Atty. Panghulan attended the launch of the Philippines Urbanization Review, a World Bank Study. It is said during the forum that the Philippines is at a critical juncture in its urbanization process. By 2050, more than 65% of the total population will live in cities. Cities generate 70% of the country’s GDP and Metro Manila alone accounts for 36% of this share. It is considered one of the fastest growing megacities in the region and along with secondary cities, provide a potential driver for enhanced productivity and economic growth. The economic benefits of urbanization in the Philippines have yet to be fully realized. Decisions made now will affect how cities grow and the extent to which they contribute to improving the lives of millions of Filipinos.

Keynote speakers include Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala of the Ayala Corporation and Undersecretary Rolando Tumpalan of the National Economic Development Authority.
